Indomitable Complex Tigresses are finalising the formation of a reserve side to systematically nurture young players according to the club\u2019s tradition.<\/p>\n
That is not all; Tigresses have also recruited seven players to understudy experienced ones as a way of ensuring a succession plan.<\/p>\n
Tigresses coach, Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, said the youth team would help them groom youngsters for promotion to the senior side.<\/p>\n
Chawinga-Kaluwa, who also doubles as Malawi Queens coach, said they scouted promising players across the country before selecting them to feature for the youth team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had over 150 players that were short-listed and we trimmed them to a manageable size. The outstanding ones would feature in the youth team, which will be in development and community tournaments,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this level, we will not mind the results. Our objective shall remain building players in the rightful manner so that they should know our culture and style.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former all-rounder also explained that Tigresses had selected seven players to train with the senior for them to get used to the demands of the game at the top level.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe scouted the seven from rural areas in Kasungu and other districts. We want them to learn our philosophy so that they should not struggle once we register them next season. We don\u2019t want to rely on one individual. This process will allow us to have back up in cases of injuries and other things,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
This season, Tigresses have already defended the Airtel Money national netball trophy. They are also topping the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League in their quest to reclaim the title and snatch it from defending champions.<\/p>\n
