{"id":8799,"date":"2015-09-16T11:11:45","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T11:11:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=8799"},"modified":"2015-09-16T11:11:45","modified_gmt":"2015-09-16T11:11:45","slug":"joseph-kamwendo-wants-out-of-mazembe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/09\/16\/joseph-kamwendo-wants-out-of-mazembe\/","title":{"rendered":"Joseph Kamwendo wants out of Mazembe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Deposed Flames captain, Joseph Kamwendo, is pondering a return to either Mozambique or Malawi after being starved of game-time at TP Mazembe in the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-Be Forward Wanderers skipper, Kamwendo, has failed to break into Mazembe\u2019s first team in the two seasons and has three years remaining on his contract.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder\u2019s manager, James Nelito Pondamale, confirmed yesterday that Kamwendo wants out of Mazembe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe approached me to explore the option of the loan move. We are talking to Costa do Sol with Wanderers being another option,\u201d Pondamale explained yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe player prefers playing in Mozambique because he can get enough pay there. He reckons that he can still play football at the highest level for some years. We are talking to Costa Do Sol [Chimango Kayira\u2019s team].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kamwendo\u2019s lack of game-time has cost him a place in the Flames squad and he was recently dropped by Flames coach, Ernest Mtawali, for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Swaziland two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Kamwendo lost the Flames\u2019 captaincy to Limbikani Mzava, but Mtawali insists the door is not closed completely on senior players who were dropped from the squad to Swaziland.<\/p>\n<p>The Nomads\u2019 vice-secretary, Chris Kananji, has since said the possible<\/p>\n<p>return of Kamwendo could also add strength to the team that is targeting a historic treble this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is our son and we consider him to be our player all the time. He has been coming back before, therefore ,he is welcome any time. The presence of experienced players like Kamwendo and Alfred Manyozo will motivate the youngsters,\u201d Kananji added.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers have won the Carlsberg Cup and they are in the quarterfinals of the Standard Bank Knock-Out Cup. In the Super League, the Nomads trail leaders, Big Bullets by nine points.<\/p>\n<p>Kamwendo has on two occasions returned to re-launch his career with Wanderers.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder returned in 2006 after leaving Danish club, Nordsjaelland.
