Lilongwe-based upcoming musician Kalawe, real name Francis Kalawe, who is gaining mileage since releasing the song titled \u2018Dzuka Malawi,\u2019 has said he wants to use music to help bring positive change to the country.<\/p>\n
Kalawe revealed that he will launch a campaign for positive talent which will seek to challenge the youth to use talents to induce positive change.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs youths we have a duty to help develop our country through our various talents and this is why I decided to come out and use my singing talent to help bring change,\u201d said the musician.<\/p>\n
The youthful musician has received praise from people since he released the song \u2018Dzuka Malawi,\u2019 which is currently enjoying airplay on some of the local radio and television stations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI realised that music is one channel which as youths we can use to disseminate different messages to bring out positive change. There are people out there who are suffering and they need that voice and so as youths we need to step up, you the different talents we have. As youths we are the leaders of today and so we need not sit on our talents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kalawe said he was happy that his song \u2018Dzuka Malawi,\u2019 has received an overwhelming response, adding that he is surprised that the song has accumulated thousands of downloads.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have never gone to any music school to learn music but this is my God-given talent. And I have advanced my skills through observation so I am looking at growing this talent and in the years to come I want to drop more albums,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said he wants to brand himself as an urban artist who is here to use music to bring about change.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am here not just for the sake of singing but I want to bring change as I said, I am an economist cum insurer by training and I believe change is possible if we embrace the concept of change and not shun it,\u201d said Kalawe.<\/p>\n
The musician said in the song \u2018Dzuka Malawi,\u2019 he is placing the responsibility of developing Malawi in the hands of Malawians.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are busy blaming others for the situation we are in now but what have we done, we will keep talking and then watch others develop. I am asking Malawians to be patriotic and again we need to hold those in authority accountable and again we need to change our mindset,\u201d said Kalawe.<\/p>\n
