Students from Malawi University of Science and Technology (Must) will soon have the opportunity to study at University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), thanks to President Peter Mutharika\u2019s visit to China.<\/p>\n
Speaking during an official visit to USTC, Mutharika asked the institution to develop a mutual exchange of faculties\u2019 pact with (Must).<\/p>\n
USTC is the ninth best university in China.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn Malawi, we have one of the [most] beautiful universities in the world… it was constructed by a company from Anhui. I would like to ask if you may consider introducing a mutual exchange programme where students from Must will come here and vice-versa,\u201d said Mutharika.<\/p>\n
Reacting to Mutharika\u2019s proposal, USTC Vice -President Wang Xue Jun said the institution has similar programmes already in place.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have similar arrangements on short, medium and long-term basis where our students go to other institutions while others come here,\u201d Wang said.<\/p>\n
In a related development, Mutharika said internet is fast becoming a crucial tool in agricultural production and marketing.<\/p>\n
Mutharika, who was recently on a six-day tour of duty in China, made the observation soon after visiting Anhui Agricultural Trade Fair at Binhu Exhibition Centre in Anhui Province.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne thing that has impressed me that we need to learn at home is the use of internet in crop production, to buy and sell. I will be discussing with the Anhui governor on the same so that next year can participate in the fair to learn a few things that can be implemented back home,\u201d he said<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
