Amakhosi Functions and Events which has been hosting different events in the country, including the Wedding Expo, is back in the fold and this time around debuting with what they call the Blantyre Food Festival to be held at Green Valley Gardens along the Chikwawa Road tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Amakhosi Functions and Events, in partnership with various stakeholders including Biz Malawi and Blantyre, City Council, is excited to host the food festival in the commercial city which is the first of its kind.<\/p>\n
Amakhosi Functions and Events\u2019 Liz de Klerk said this being the first event they want to make it historical and that people should brace for more goodies during the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat prompted us to come up with this Blantyre Food Festival is the fact that Blantyre is dead. There is just nothing for the public to do in Blantyre especially over weekends. Blantyre Food Festival was born for the sake of people living in Blantyre,\u201d said Liz de Klerk.<\/p>\n
She said the festival will give time for family and friends to get together over food adding that everyone loves food and that there will be more fun.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have over 10 food stalls on board, which include a coffee shop, burgers, hot dogs, veggie dishes, proper meals like stews and rice, sweets, desserts, cheese and wine, milkshakes, chicken dishes and fresh chicken to buy, finger foods, a braai, bagels and cakes and many other things. Again we will also have a drinks area,\u201d said de Klerk.<\/p>\n
Apart from food stalls, she also said they will have craft stalls where people will have a chance of sampling different art and crafts items as well as buy them.<\/p>\n
She said BeesNKidz will put up a large area for kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a family festival. The kids will love it because we have a section for them which we will look at it well. There will be inflatables, a water slide and we are asking kids to bring their swimming costumes and towels. We also have a trampoline and kids will also experience ballon twisting and face painting,\u201d said de Klerk.<\/p>\n
She described the event as annual and that the Mayor of the City of Blantyre will officially open the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited about this, as we both have a desire to bring more people of Blantyre to this fresh festival. This is a pilot event and will be happening annually something that Blantyre can plan and look forward to,\u201d said de Klerk.<\/p>\n
She hailed City of Blantyre, Biz Malawi, Arrow Electrical and Alpha Security for their partnership in what she described as an \u2018exciting\u2019 event worth their attendance.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I said this is a day about family, friends, food and fun where the public can create memories for themselves. Our motto stands on \u2018Let\u2019s lift up the City of Blantyre,\u201d said de Klerk.<\/p>\n
The event is expected to start at 12pm through to 9pm and will see adults paying K1,000 while children under 13 will pay K500.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is more on the ground and so we just want to call upon people to come in large numbers and be part of this history. This is the first so you don\u2019t want to miss it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
