Mwalwanda said on Monday that he was ready to work with MCP president Lazarus Chakwera and the entire team for the good of Malawians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have joined MCP because its policies are sound and under the leadership of Dr Chakwera, the party will develop this country. I am comfortable that I have joined the party and have no regrets,\u201d said Mwalwanda.<\/p>\n<p>His comments come after he indicated that he applied to rejoin the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). He confirmed that he had consultations with DPP to rejoin the party but said he finally decided to go to MCP because of its policies which he said are people-centred.<\/p>\n<p>He said DPP did not reject him.<\/p>\n<p>Karonga MCP district committee yesterday welcomed Mwalwanda into the party.<\/p>\n<p>Mwalwanda served in the DPP under the late president Bingu wa Mutharika. After Mutharika\u2019s death in 2012, he joined People\u2019s Party under Joyce Banda.
