Malawi\u2019s lightweight champion, Salimu Chazama, and two other boxers travel to Namibia for non-title fights next month.<\/p>\n
New Dawn Boxing Promotions\u2019 managing director, Mike Chimaliza, said the bill had been arranged together with Zimbabwe\u2019s Delta Force Boxing Academy.<\/p>\n
Chazama will face Namibian Martin Haikali in an eight-round non-title contest whereas Malawi\u2019s contender number one at lightweight division, Crispin Moliyati, will take on Samuel Kapapu of Namibia in a four-round contest.<\/p>\n
In a welterweight four-round fight, Malawi\u2019s Ernest Msolida will date Mendu Kaangundue of Namibia.<\/p>\n
Chimaliza said the bill had been arranged in fulfillment of the pledge New Dawn Boxing Promotions made before Chazama and Moliyati fought.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promised to send the winning boxer to Namibia. However, we felt Moliyati also fought well and it was not surprising that others thought he had won. Basing on such reasons, we have included him. We have also considered Ernest Msolidza because he was equally good when he drew with Limbani Masamba,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Chimaliza said he would meet with the boxers, trainers and stakeholders to ensure Malawi\u2019s pugilists prepare well before the international fights.<\/p>\n
The development comes after other three Malawi boxers, including Wilson Masamba lost in Namibia amid concerns that there was bias.<\/p>\n
Local featherweight boxer Wilson Masamba missed a chance to win the (International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa lightweight championship when he lost to former IBF World Youth featherweight winner, Prince Albinus Felesianu, on unanimous decision two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
Masamba\u2019s three compatriots, including his younger brother, Aubrey, Felix Mwamaso and Charles Misanjo also lost in similar manner on the same bill staged at J&P Complex Onashitoke Ondangwa, in north Namibia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
