{"id":8105,"date":"2015-09-01T12:15:29","date_gmt":"2015-09-01T12:15:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=8105"},"modified":"2015-09-01T12:15:29","modified_gmt":"2015-09-01T12:15:29","slug":"alide-bemoans-carlsberg-cup-final-display","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/09\/01\/alide-bemoans-carlsberg-cup-final-display\/","title":{"rendered":"Alide bemoans Carlsberg cup final display"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The<\/strong> 2015 Carlsberg Cup organising committee chairperson, Jabbar Alide, has hailed this year\u2019s edition as a success administratively, but bemoaned finalists, Be Forward Wanderers and Big Bullets\u2019 unpalatable displays.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers beat the Bullets 2-1 to lift the cup at Civo Stadium where both teams could not string more than five passes uninterrupted; a sight which disappointed some fans and Alide.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Times Television yesterday, Alide described the standard of play as \u2018going backwards\u2019 and as being \u2018incoherent\u2019 with the ball just being floated from back to front. Several pundits shared the concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Alide, however, noted that issues of play are not the committee\u2019s responsibility, adding that despite advance ticket \u00a0sales flopping and concerns over venues, the cup was a success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall, we had a very good competition. It was one of the best run competitions. We do, however, acknowledge that every journey has challenges. For example, we realised that administrators don\u2019t look at rules,\u201d he explained, while acknowledging that the condition of the pitch contributed to the poor play.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, Alide said they would commit clubs to a charter to avoid concerns like the one which Moyale Barracks raised in the middle of the Carlsberg Cup that they played all games away.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets\u2019 captain Fischer Kondowe attributed the poor performance to the bumpy condition of the pitch which he felt was not good enough for a final, adding that \u201cyou just could not control the ball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers\u2019 vice-captain Francis Mlimbika missed the game through injury, hence was unable to comment.
