At the end of the day, we need to feed our families,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In the petition, the vendors complain that some demonstrators take advantage of the demonstrations to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.times.mw\/demonstrations-turn-ugly\/\">vandalise<\/a> private and public property.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Speaking after receiving the petition, Lilongwe City Council Chief Executive Officer, John Chome, said: <em>\u201cWe will be looking into the issue.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, after the demonstrations, the vendors were seen being ferried in vehicles to their respective areas of residence.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, HRDC Chairperson Timothy Mtambo has said the vendors\u2019 action will not thwart their plans to demonstrate.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIn fact, we will deliver a petition to the State House as planned,\u201d<\/em> Mtambo said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Rebecca Chimjeka: Vendors in Lilongwe Wednesday demonstrated against Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC)- planned demonstrations, saying protests have led to loss of business.
