FLAMES coach Ernest Mtawali says he is open to constructive criticism and urged the media to challenge him by sporting players with rare talent to be given chance at the national football team.<\/p>\n
Mtawali has made massive changes at the Flames after dropping several senior players including DR Congobased deposed captain Joseph Kamwendo.<\/p>\n
Speaking before departing for South Africa ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland, Mtawali said he was ready to accommodate new players as he bids to revive Malawi\u2019s Afcon campaign.<\/p>\n
Malawi started the qualification process sourly following the 1-2 home loss under the guidance of sacked coaches Young Chimodzi and Jack Chamangwana.<\/p>\n
\u201cI and my comrade Nsanzurimo Ramadhan we have four eyes and we will rely on you [the media] to identify promising players. We can\u2019t watch each and every game so we will need your support. Once you identify an exceptional player call us and we will give him a trial. If he convinces us, he will stay with the Flames,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mtawali said they would pick players based on current form and not just names.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is why I am telling you that my door is not shut. Dropped players will have to convince us that they have improved to be considered again. Those that have been picked should also maintain good form if they are to be kept at the senior team,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mtawali has also dropped regulars such as Fischer Kondowe, Zicco Mkanda, Lucky Malata and Harry Nyirenda and include former under-20 players Stanley Sanudi, Isaac Kaliati and Brighton Munthali.<\/p>\n
The coach has also included Azam Tigers\u2019 playmaker Yamikani Chester in the squad. Flames will camp in South Africa and they will have a training match against National First Divisional side Mbombela United.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, backed Mtawali and Ramadhan for being cooperative.<\/p>\n
