Nsanje is a border district, which means it faces the risk of such (cholera) outbreaks whenever they hit Mozambique.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am happy, therefore, that we are working with our Mozambican counterparts to tackle the disease.\u201d<\/em> Chimbalanga said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Nsanje District Health Officer, Alexander Chijuwa, said he was satisfied with levels of collaboration between officials from the two countries.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThough the relationship is in its initial stage, we have made strides in implementing cholera preventive initiatives. With support from United Nations Children\u2019s Fund through United Purpose, Nsanje District Social Mobilisation Committee has managed to disseminate cholera prevention messages in high-risk areas,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The initiative has also involved traditional leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Mozambique\u2019s Traditional Authority Dobvu was part of the Mozambican delegation and said, working in collaboration with health officials, traditional leaders were playing an active role in stemming cholera cases.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Eric Msikiti: Officials from Malawi\u2019s Nsanje and Mozambique\u2019s Mutarara districts have called for collaboration in the fight against cholera.
