Super League sponsor, TNM plc, will launch a Player-of-the-Month award to be voted for by supporters.<\/p>\n

This was announced on Wednesday during the first draw of the Poko- Poko Zampira Promotion at the company\u2019s headquarters in Blantyre.<\/p>\n

TNM Head of Marketing, Sobhuza Ngwenya, said the award was an additional incentive to both fans and clubs and would promote active engagement of soccer fans throughout the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Player-of-the- Month award will be voted for by soccer fans themselves via SMS. We remain committed to creating a platform for active engagement of soccer fans in addition to traditional activities such as the predict-and-win with Zampira Promotion.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe player awards underscore this commitment. Now there will be something for everyone. We will continue to innovate to ensure that soccer fans, players and clubs all have a reason to smile every season,\u201d<\/em> Ngwenya said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said soccer fans would be voting based on a short-list of five players every month.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the month of June, we worked in consultation with Super League of Malawi to shortlist five players who were outstanding. Afterwards, supporters will be given a chance to vote for their best player. The player to get the most votes will receive K100, 000,\u201d<\/em> Ngwenya said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The shortlisted players for June are Micium Mhone of Blue Eagles, Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 Babatunde Adepoju<\/a>, Peter Banda (Nyasa Big Bullets), Christopher Mtambo of Savenda Chitipa and Karonga United\u2019s Misheck Selemani.<\/p>\n

To vote, fans are required to dial *1515# and choose the voting option. The voting runs from July 11 to 15.<\/p>\n

During the draw, Kamuzu Barracks supporter Lyson Chimangamsasa emerged winner of the K1.5 million grand monthly prize.<\/p>\n

From the amount, K500,000 would be channelled towards a football club of his choice.<\/p>\n

Chimangamsasa, who works for Shoprite, correctly predicted that KB would beat Karonga United 2-0.<\/p>\n
