{"id":80343,"date":"2019-07-11T03:15:16","date_gmt":"2019-07-11T01:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=80343"},"modified":"2019-07-11T03:21:33","modified_gmt":"2019-07-11T01:21:33","slug":"sand-music-festival-ready-for-9th-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/07\/11\/sand-music-festival-ready-for-9th-edition\/","title":{"rendered":"Sand Music Festival ready for 9th edition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sand Music Festival organisers are ready to unveil names of artists to star at the event, to be held at Kabumba Hotel in Salima District.<\/p>\n<p>The festival is scheduled for November 1 to 3 later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Oganisers of the event over the weekend held a pre- Sand Music Festival event at Kabumba, where Soldier Lucius Banda, Zembani Band and reggae group Black Missionaries were on song.<\/p>\n<p>Lucius, who is the director of Impakt Events\u2014 which spearheads the festival \u2014said Wednesday he was impressed with the turnout.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe turnout was super and the venue is just good. The turnout challenged us to give people more. We have started selecting local artists and what remains are the confirmations,\u201d<\/em> Lucius said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Dubbed Adventurous Live Music by the Beach, Lucius said people should watch the space.<\/p>\n<p>However, the festival has been shifted to early November, thereby clashing with Tumaini Festival, which takes place at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.<\/p>\n<p>But Lucius felt that this was no cause for concern.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThese are two different festivals and, as such, I don\u2019t think there is a problem,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last year\u2019s festival was headlined by Jamaican artist<a href=\"\/\/www.times.mw\/i-will-come-back-kenyatta-hill\/\"> Kenyatta Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the artists that have graced the festival include Tanzania\u2019s Diamond, Jamaica\u2019s Busy Signal and Zimbabwe\u2019s Ammara Brown.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Sand Music Festival organisers are ready to unveil names of artists to star at the event, to be held at Kabumba Hotel in Salima District.
