{"id":8031,"date":"2015-08-28T15:01:35","date_gmt":"2015-08-28T15:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=8031"},"modified":"2015-08-28T15:01:35","modified_gmt":"2015-08-28T15:01:35","slug":"masamba-3-others-pounded-in-namibia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/28\/masamba-3-others-pounded-in-namibia\/","title":{"rendered":"Masamba, 3 others pounded in Namibia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local featherweight boxer, Wilson Masamba\u2019s dream of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa lightweight belt ended when he lost to former IBF World Youth featherweight champion, Albinus Felesianu, in Namibia on unanimous points\u2019 decision\u00a0on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>The result of the 12-round title contest summed up Malawi\u2019s nightmare after Masamba\u2019s three compatriots, including his younger brother, Aubrey, Felix Mwamaso and Charles Misanjo also lost in similar manner on the same bill staged at J&amp;P Complex Onashitoke Ondangwa, in north Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>Masamba\u2019s promoter, Craig Rousseau and Zimbabwean trainer,\u00a0Clyde Musonda, seethed with rage, claiming Masamba was robbed of victory.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of controversies here though.\u00a0The Namibia corner appeared worried after the fight. All the judges were from Namibia, except one who was from DR Congo but based in Namibia. Wilson put up a gallant fight and we thought he had won. One of the judges scored it a draw while the two gave it to the Namibian. All the boys put up good performance,\u201d\u00a0Rousseau said.<\/p>\n<p>Felesianu has now fought 15 times winning 11, including five knock-outs. He has lost twice and drawn once.<\/p>\n<p>Masamba, 30, has dropped his record having fought 30 times winning 25 and losing six.<br \/>\nIn a middleweight eight-round non-title fight, Misanjo lost to Johannes Mwetupunga of Namibia on points in the main supporting fight.<\/p>\n<p>In a six-round middleweight non-title clash, Mwamaso lost to Ndafoluma of Namibia. In an eight-round bantamweight non-title fight, Aubrey Masamba lost to Namibian, Joseph Hilongwa.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Rousseau insisted that the results would not affect Masamba\u2019s participation in the Knock-Out Malaria bill against\u00a0Brazilian boxer, Cid Edson Bispo Riberio, for the vacant World Boxing Union (WBU) featherweight title in a 12- rounder this\u00a0September 26\u00a0in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>During the same bill, Misanjo will take on Moabi Mothina of Botswana for the World Professional Boxing Federation (WPBF) welterweight belt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf my boxers had lost on knock-outs, it would have been a different story,\u201dRousseau\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board (MPBCB) president, Lonzoe Zimba, said Masamba and Misanjo were eligible for the Malaria bill because they did not lose by knock-outs, which require one to rest for 90 days before another fight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local featherweight boxer, Wilson Masamba\u2019s dream of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) Africa lightweight belt ended when he lost to former IBF World Youth featherweight champion, Albinus Felesianu, in Namibia on unanimous points\u2019 decision\u00a0on Wednesday night.
