{"id":7947,"date":"2015-08-25T13:13:34","date_gmt":"2015-08-25T13:13:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=7947"},"modified":"2015-08-25T13:13:34","modified_gmt":"2015-08-25T13:13:34","slug":"blue-eagles-tanzania-bound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/25\/blue-eagles-tanzania-bound\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Eagles Tanzania bound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barely a month after winning Sarpcco football trophy in Swaziland, Blue Eagles travel to Tanzania for two strength-testing matches this weekend against Yanga FC and Mbeya City FC.<\/p>\n<p>The police-sponsored outfit is expected to travel to Dar es Salaam this Thursday with the games scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Eagles\u2019 team manager, Gabriel Chirwa, confirmed yesterday that the invitation came from Smart Sports of<br \/>\nTanzania through the Super League of Malawi (Sulom).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey (Smart Sports) have pledged to fund the trip, including accommodation and transport. Initially, we were supposed to travel to Tanzania last week, but Yanga were participating in a bonanza,\u201d said Chirwa on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are travelling with a squad of 25 players, including officials because they indicated that they will only be able to pay accommodation for 25 people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chirwa said the friendly match would help his charges to fine-tune for the TNM Super League second round.<br \/>\nSulom treasurer, Tiya Somba-Banda, also confirmed giving the Eagles\u2019 the green-light to travel to Tanzania as the domestic league only resumes next month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmart Sports from Tanzania called us on August 5, 2015 seeking for an international friendly involving Blue Eagles, Yanga and Mbeya City FC,\u201d said Somba-Banda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked them to put the proposal in writing and detail all the requirements plus what Eagles will be given.
