\"\"<\/a>Blantyre and Districts Netball League (BDNL) has received a timely boost ahead of the new season\u2019s throw off after Rainbow Paints increased the sponsorship package to K10.5 million from K6.5 million.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made during the launch of the 2019 season at Blantyre Youth Centre on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Rainbow Paints Marketing Executive, Jangale Chiosa-Mponda, promised to further increase the sponsorship package midway through the season if administrators continue to impress in their organisation of the league.<\/p>\n

Chiosa-Mponda said the company intended to team up with league organisers in holding activations to attract more fans to watch their games.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have increased the the sponsorship package because we are impressed with the organisation of the league. This league contributes the bulk of players who shine for the national team and we feel remaining the backbone of the league is good for us,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

BDNL Chairperson, Junier Kazembe, promised transparency and adherence to rules to ensure a successful season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will make sure that all teams and players are disciplined as they play their games. We will also do our best to become good ambassadors of our sponsor\u2019s brand by marketing it through our league,\u201d<\/em> Kazembe said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, hailed Rainbow Paints for supporting the league and urged other corporate citizens to emulate the company\u2019s gesture.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the commitment which Rainbow Paints has shown by increasing the sponsorship package. We want such partners to continue supporting the sport for it to develop,\u201d<\/em> Bapu said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Following the increase, champions will pocket K1.2 million, with the runners up pocketing K700,000. The third-placed side will get K350,000.<\/p>\n

All the 12 teams in the league are assured of receiving a monetary prize depending on their position.<\/p>\n

During ceremonial opening games, champions Kukoma Diamonds beat Tigresses 49-23 whereas Prison Sisters defeated Serenity Stars 47-33.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
