NIGHT TO REMEMBER \u2014 Onesimus performing during the launch<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Renowned musician and dancer Wendy Harawa, who is now into gospel music, on Saturday launched her debut gospel album Mundisunge Ndinu <\/em>at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n

The launch, which went all the way to the early hours of Sunday, saw Prophet Shepherd Bushiri get the album at K6 million and the good news, which was received with excitement by the audience, was announced by Onesimus.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I leave the stage, I would like to announce that Prophet Shepherd Bushiri is getting Wendy\u2019s CD at K6 million,\u201d<\/em> Onesimus, who is based in South Africa, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Prophet Bushiri, through his Major 1 Records, has signed several artists including Wendy, whose nine-track collection was also recorded at Major 1 Records and Ralph Records but mixed and mastered at New Movement in South Africa.<\/p>\n

During auction which was spearheaded by Symon Kamlaka and Kendall Kamwendo, the duo famed for the track \u2018Nyemba Nyemba\u2019, others also bought the CD, with Prophet Otis Bushiri and Prophet David Mbewe getting the album at K2 million and K1 million, respectively.<\/p>\n

The auction came soon after Wendy had performed a few songs, before coming back and finishing her set on a higher note dishing out \u2018Chisomo\u2019, a collabo<\/a> with Nigerian gospel musician Jimmy D Psalmist and Lulu.<\/p>\n

With Lulu already on stage as part of Wendy\u2019s band that also included members such as JJ Munthali, Wendy had to invite Jimmy D Psalmist, who sitting in the audience to join her on stage to perform \u2018Chisomo\u2019.<\/p>\n

She opened her act with \u2018Ambuye Ndionetseni\u2019 before moving on with other songs, some of which are not her original tracks but were written by, among others, Soldier Lucius Banda.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt can only be God, finally here I am launching my debut gospel album. God has done wonders in my life and I am in a better place. I just want to say thank you to you all for coming out to support me.<\/em><\/p>\n

Thank you to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and Prophetess Mary Bushiri for all the support,\u201d<\/em> Wendy said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blantyre-based musician Thocco Katimba, who was not on the line-up, was the first to hit the stage, warming up for Great Angels Choir, which offered a number of songs from their albums before leaving the stage for Patience Namadingo.<\/p>\n

Onesimus, who has not performed in the country for some time, was next; he opened his act with two slow numbers, with Chisomo Ngondo helping him out on the piano before playing the rest of the other songs using a DJ.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey say east or west home is best. I am happy to be home to support my sister Wendy,\u201d<\/em> Onesimus said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
