{"id":78435,"date":"2019-05-28T03:47:55","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T01:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=78435"},"modified":"2019-05-28T03:47:55","modified_gmt":"2019-05-28T01:47:55","slug":"griffin-saenda-focuses-on-physical-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/05\/28\/griffin-saenda-focuses-on-physical-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Griffin Saenda focuses on physical training"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Malawi national netball team Coach, Griffin Saenda, has said the technical panel is concentrating on improving players\u2019 fitness levels during the on-going non-residential training.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens regrouped two weeks ago for non-residential training in readiness for the World Cup set for Liverpool, England, from July 12 to 21.<\/p>\n<p>Saenda said the non-residential training was ideal as local netball leagues were still on off-season.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThis is why we are concentrating on fitness. We are doing a lot of runs to raise the players\u2019 fitness levels. This means we will concentrate on tactics, combination and game approach when we commence fulltime camping,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Saenda said he was in constant contact with his deputy, Whyte Mulilima, who is overseeing a similar exercise in the Central Region.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe want to be doing the same thing so that we achieve similar results,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Saenda called familiar names for the training, with Blue Eagles Sisters goal defender Maggie Sikwese as the only newcomer in the squad.<\/p>\n<p>The Queens\u2019 United Kingdom-based stars <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/joyce-mvula-wins-two-club-awards\/\">Joyce Mvula<\/a> and Lauren Ngwira are part of the squad.<\/p>\n<p>Shooter Mvula is a big star at Vitality Netball Superleague champions Manchester Thunder while all-rounder Ngwira was on loan at London Pulse from Tigresses.<\/p>\n<p>Australian side Melbourne Vixens\u2019 iconic shooter Mwawi Kumwenda, who is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/mwawi-kumwenda-on-recovery-path\/\">recovering<\/a> from an injury, is not on the list after indicating that doctors had advised her to stay out of action for a year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Mphatso Malidadi: Malawi national netball team Coach, Griffin Saenda, has said the technical panel is concentrating on improving players\u2019 fitness levels during the on-going non-residential training.
