Balaka-based Alleluya Band is expected to hold over 40 shows during their annual Italy tour.<\/p>\n

The musical group is set to leave the country on June 1 2019 for the Italy tour dubbed Gadu Gadu.<\/p>\n

Alleluya Band leader, Paul Subili, said Sunday they have been undergoing massive training ahead of the tour.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to represent Malawi in Italy. It\u2019s been hard work and putting together performances that have everything Malawian. We will be holding close to 42 shows,\u201d<\/em> Subili said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The group recently held a farewell show in Balaka.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe always thank our hosts in Italy, who make sure that our mission of raising funds for the Andiamo Comfort Community Hospital in Balaka is achieved,\u201d<\/em> Subili said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The group is expected to return in August.<\/p>\n

Recently Alleluya Band\u2019s top three members\u2014 Subili and his vice Gertrude Naluso alongside former band leader Coss Chiwalo\u2014 released a compilation of some of their songs.<\/p>\n

The collection, titled The Best of Coss Chiwalo, Paul Subili and Gertrude Naluso, <\/em>has 12 songs.<\/p>\n

The album, according to Subili, is a gift to people as part of Alleluya Band\u2019s 40 years anniversary celebration.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, as a group, have come a long way, people have been there for us and so last year we clocked 40 years and we thought the best gift to give to the people was to compile some of our songs from our previous albums,\u201d<\/em> Subili said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The band leader said the group would not have been here without people\u2019s support and promised to do more.<\/p>\n

The collection has seen the trio contributing four songs each.<\/p>\n

Subili has contributed \u2018Ndiwe Mbambande\u2019, \u2018Ndisamaleni\u2019, \u2018Tigwire Mtengo Wanji\u2019, and \u2018Taononga Dziko\u2019, while Naluso has \u2018Beautiful\u2019, \u2018Dzuka Iwe\u2019, \u2018Amunanga\u2019 and \u2018Changu Changa\u2019.<\/p>\n

Chiwalo, who has been in the music circles for close to 30 years and has released over six albums, has contributed songs such as \u2018Ukandikonda\u2019, \u2018Afisi aku Ntcheu\u2019, \u2018Muzithandizana\u2019 and \u2018Dalitsani a Chuma\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of these songs were done long time ago so we thought we should revisit some of them and give them to the people to enjoy. Some of these songs actually were on tapes and so with technology people will now get them on CD,\u201d<\/em> Chiwalo said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the past years, Chiwalo was vibrant in terms of releasing albums but he has been out of the limelight despite releasing a spiritual album with Roman Catholic hymns last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cI should admit that it\u2019s been sometime since I released an album but let me assure fans that I have songs for the new album. But what happens is that as Alleluya Band we are occupied with different projects and, so, we end up putting on hold plans to release albums. But, this year, people should brace for albums from me, Alleluya Band as well as other members of Alleluya Band,\u201d<\/em> Chiwalo said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Alleluya Band recently represented Malawi and Africa at the World Youth Day in Panama<\/a> where they held two performances.<\/p>\n

This was not the first time for them to participate in the World Youth Day as, in the past, they have also starred in Italy, Germany, Australia, Spain and Poland.<\/p>\n

The group was formed in the 1978, spearheaded by Father Mario Pacifici and Paul Banda.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
