{"id":78231,"date":"2019-05-22T11:41:36","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T09:41:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=78231"},"modified":"2019-05-22T11:41:36","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T09:41:36","slug":"steve-madeira-quits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/05\/22\/steve-madeira-quits\/","title":{"rendered":"Steve Madeira quits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi &amp; Williams Gondwa:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Be Forward Wanderers have been thrown into fresh turmoil after Steve Madeira resigned as Team Manager over what he termed \u201cin-house\u201d politics.<\/p>\n<p>Madeira, who has followed former vice-general secretary Chulu Mkangama, who quit recently, Tuesday confirmed the development and demanded K7 million which he claimed to have lent the team.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAfter careful consideration, friends and family, I write to notify you that I am stepping down from Be Forward Wanderers Football Club with immediate effect. The accusations of me being a confusionist and political issues surrounding this huge club are the primary reasons for my stepping down,\u201d<\/em> Madeira\u2019s statement he issued Tuesday reads.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe club owes me money close to K7,000,000) [which] I used in paying some of the clubs expenses such as daily training allowances, game bonuses to players, technical officials and other daily runnings of the team. The treasurer has a reconciled copy of these expenses. Let me take this opportunity and ask the team to pay me back within the next 72 hours. The club has my bank account details.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In an interview yesterday, Madeira said the amount excludes outstanding game bonuses and allowances.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThat can be done later but my immediate concern is the money which I was paying [the] players from my pocket. As a family man, I have two children and a wife who need me. I have been insulted quite a lot. I could have loved to leave the team when it was at the top but I have to leave now,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Madeira thanked Wanderers players, officials and fans for their support.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Civil Sporting Club assistant Coach, Oscar Kaunda, has also resigned to take over a similar post at Wanderers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt is true that I have resigned because it is time to face a new challenge.
