{"id":77955,"date":"2019-05-15T02:15:31","date_gmt":"2019-05-15T00:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=77955"},"modified":"2019-05-15T02:15:31","modified_gmt":"2019-05-15T00:15:31","slug":"yamikani-guba-to-fight-for-malawi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/05\/15\/yamikani-guba-to-fight-for-malawi\/","title":{"rendered":"Yamikani Guba to fight for Malawi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Ronald Mpaso: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The World Taekwondo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manchester-arena.com\/events\/world-taekwondo-championships-2019\/10470\/\">Championships<\/a> commence today in Manchester, England, with Yamikani Guba representing Malawi in the heavyweight category.<\/p>\n<p>National taekwondo Coach, Lovemore Masinga, said Guba would be alone at the event as other athletes\u2014 Joseph Phiri and Vester Banda\u2014failed to travel to England on Monday because of visa complications.<\/p>\n<p>Phiri was expected to fight in -68-kilogramme (kg) men\u2019s category, with Banda contesting in 57 kg ladies\u2019 showpiece.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe had prepared well for this competition but it is sad that we have failed to travel. But the good thing is that Guba is based in Manchester and we would have joined him there.
