{"id":77886,"date":"2019-05-13T06:23:29","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T04:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=77886"},"modified":"2019-05-13T06:41:43","modified_gmt":"2019-05-13T04:41:43","slug":"joyce-mvula-manchester-thunders-to-league-final","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/05\/13\/joyce-mvula-manchester-thunders-to-league-final\/","title":{"rendered":"Joyce Mvula Thunders to league final"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Malawi national netball team shooter, Joyce Mvula, was named Player-of-the-Match after inspiring her English side, Manchester Thunder, to reach the final of the Vitality Netball Super League on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Thunder defeated Team Bath 57-54 in a breathtaking semifinal to set up a tie against Wasps in the grand final.<\/p>\n<p>Wasps made it after beating Loughborough Lightning 74-54.<\/p>\n<p>This will be Thunder\u2019s first final since 2014 while Wasps will be competing for their third crown in succession.<\/p>\n<p>Mvula, who was signed from Lilongwe\u2019s Blue Eagles Sisters three years ago, said she was excited to have helped her team.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt was a tough game. As a team, we were so determined to win. I am glad to have helped my team to progress to the final. I also thank my teammates for contributing to my success,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Thunder Coach, Karen Greig, told BBC Sport that they had a slow start.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cUnbelievable performance! We were slow out of the blocks but, once we found our feet, we really chipped away at them and put them under a lot of pressure.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt was not a perfect performance but it was a pressure game and we dealt with it really well.
