{"id":77745,"date":"2019-05-09T03:06:04","date_gmt":"2019-05-09T01:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=77745"},"modified":"2019-05-09T03:06:04","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T01:06:04","slug":"tay-grin-toys-with-real-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/05\/09\/tay-grin-toys-with-real-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Tay Grin toys with \u2018real issues\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Richard Chilango Jnr: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin, real name Limbani Kalilani, has been breaking new ground every now and then.<\/p>\n<p>When he teamed up with Nigerian superstar <a href=\"https:\/\/tooxclusive.com\/tag\/2baba\/\">2BaBa<\/a> in the single \u2018Chipapa\u2019 for example, he was breaking new ground.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to collaborate with international acts such as Vanessa Mdee, Bennie Man, Da les and Babe cool.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Tay Grin wants to break new ground by concentrating on childhood experiences.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThere are a lot of childhood endeavors which have gone into hibernation; I am speaking of the hidden curriculum and kindergarten music.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn fact, with the coming in of advanced technologies, most children are \u2018growing up\u2019 on television, unlike us, who made fun of our earlier days by throwing mud at each other, or singing folklore music all day long. So, I want to play around with this idea,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The multi-award winner also said another area worth pursuing is that of issue-based music.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThere is need for artists to come up with issue-based music; songs that impact audiences.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cFor instance, artists have a great role to play in cultural preservation,\u201d<\/em> he said, probably thinking of new ground he will have to break after breaking this new ground.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Richard Chilango Jnr: Tay Grin, real name Limbani Kalilani, has been breaking new ground every now and then.
