MINISTER KEN\u2014 I decided to record the EP so that listeners
can be inspired<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

He had to wade through the sea of commitments, including his association with gospel outfit Sanctuary Music, to drown voices of mockers\u2014 who thought he would never have an album\u2014 in-the-waters of Nyimbo za Chikondi<\/em>, an Extended Play (EP) with eight songs.<\/p>\n

His name is Minister Ken, real name Ken Mlomba, a member of the eight-member Sanctuary Music group.<\/p>\n

Produced by Steve Meleka, Don Foxxy, OBK Records and Chambota Chirwa, the EP is scheduled for release on May 14.<\/p>\n

Upon sampling songs such as \u2018M\u2019mene Amandikondera\u2019, \u2018Munthuyu\u2019, \u2018Mundikonda\u2019, \u2018Chopanda Malire\u2019, \u2018Chikondi pa Mtanda\u2019, \u2018Ndimakukonda\u2019, \u2018Ngati Ulibe Chikondi\u2019 and \u2018Kumwamba\u2019, one appreciates the dominant theme of love.<\/p>\n

\u2018M\u2019mene Amandikondera\u2019, \u2018Chikondi pa Mtanda\u2019 and \u2018Chopanda Malire\u2019, for example, address the theme of God\u2019s love for mankind while \u2018Ndimakukonda\u2019 addresses the issue of love for one another.<\/p>\n

\u2018Kumwamba\u2019, on the other hand, expounds on the vanity of life.<\/p>\n

In terms of genres, Nyimbo za Chikondi <\/em>is a marriage of genres.<\/p>\n

The lead single, \u2018M\u2019mene Amandikondera\u2019, which is enjoying airplay in radio stations, is a Manganje song complete with African drums. In fact, the sound of bottle tops, being used as shakers, is clear.<\/p>\n

Other songs are more contemporary than \u2018M\u2019mene Amandikondera\u2019, fusing Afro sounds with soft rock and R&B.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inspiration to compose the songs came from personal experiences with God. I am convinced that God loves us so much that his love is beyond our comprehension.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIn fact, I decided to record the EP so that listeners can be inspired to look at life positively in the wake of growing negativity, as evidenced by worsening living conditions through disease, poverty and natural disasters,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In fact, so determined is Minister Ken to share the message that he has decided to districute the music free-of-charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is from a heart that says the music should reach out to everyone that I have decided to distribute the album for free. We will have physical CDs, which will be distributed through designated spots in Blantyre.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOthers willing to have the music will be encouraged to download from websites that will be announced through my social media handles on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
