I would like to thank Jacaranda Cultural Centre for bringing us to this stage. We hope they will continue with this programme,\u201d<\/em> Simakweli said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chechamba, who played his guitar in one song before shifting to the saxophone for his second song, also said he was happy to be part of the showcase.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThese days I do not perform frequently but I would like to thank Jacaranda Cultural Centre for this chance. It was also nice to appreciate music from other artists,\u201d<\/em> Chechamba, who is in his 80s, said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Code, who took people down memory lane by playing songs originally done by other artists before offering his songs, said the platform has gained ground since it started.<\/p>\n<p>Jere, who has performed with several musicians in the country with his three-man-band also offered songs originally done by other artists including \u2018Bambo A Tereza\u2019, which was done by The Roots.<\/p>\n<p>JCC Director, Luc Deschamps, said the showcase was special in that it brought both the old and the new to the same stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Legendary musicians Patrick Simakweli and Wyndham Chechamba last Thursday shared the stage during the Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Session showcase at Jacaranda Cultural Centre (JCC) in Blantyre.
