{"id":7742,"date":"2015-08-19T08:43:24","date_gmt":"2015-08-19T08:43:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=7742"},"modified":"2015-08-19T08:43:24","modified_gmt":"2015-08-19T08:43:24","slug":"judo-athletes-world-championship-bound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/19\/judo-athletes-world-championship-bound\/","title":{"rendered":"Judo athletes World Championship bound"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local judo athletes\u2014 Emmanuel Ndawu and Evans Chikumbu\u2014will take part in this year\u2019s Judo World<\/p>\n<p>Championship scheduled for Kazakhstan from August 26 to 29.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi Judo Federation general secretary, Osbourne Banda, was on Tuesday confident that the two athletes would excel in Kazakhstan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a country, we believe that the two athletes would shine to put Malawi on the international map. We have given them all the support and they are ready,\u201d said Banda about the athletes who leave this Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Ndawu has a good record in international tournaments having finished on position 12 out of 72 athletes at the Commonwealth Games in Scotland last year, whereas Chikumbu finished on position 29 at the World Championship held in Russia last year.<\/p>\n<p>Ndawu said preparations were going on well and he is ready to compete on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are geared for the tournament and we are confident that we would do well during the tournament in Kazakhstan.
