{"id":77380,"date":"2019-04-29T10:49:45","date_gmt":"2019-04-29T08:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=77380"},"modified":"2019-04-29T10:49:45","modified_gmt":"2019-04-29T08:49:45","slug":"tigers-frustrate-bullets-as-civil-consolidate-lead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/04\/29\/tigers-frustrate-bullets-as-civil-consolidate-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Tigers frustrate Bullets as Civil consolidate lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/robin-alufandika.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-36945\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/robin-alufandika-300x119.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"119\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/robin-alufandika-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/robin-alufandika-768x304.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/robin-alufandika.jpg 820w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>TNM Super League defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets endured a frustrating afternoon as they came from behind to force a 1-1 draw against stubborn Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets were generally expected to showcase how they dismantled TN Stars 4-0 during the opening week of the league but it was not to be.<\/p>\n<p>The People\u2019s Team found the going tough and it had to take defender Sankhani Mkandawire\u2019s header to cancel out Tony Mbulu\u2019s opener as Tigers threatened to snatch maximum points.<\/p>\n<p>Following the draw, Bullets have moved from ninth position to fifth with four points from two games whereas Tigers are third with five points from three assignments.<\/p>\n<p>Civil Sporting Club top the table with nine points from three games whereas Blue Eagles remain second after a barren draw against debutants Mlatho Mponela.<\/p>\n<p>At Kamuzu Stadium, Tigers were solid and organised as they denied Bullets midfielders room to boss possession.<\/p>\n<p>But Bullets were not completely shut out as they threatened to score on several occasions in the first-half, such that Tigers defender Ganizani Anthony had to come to the rescue of his team with a goal-line clearance to deny Yamikani Fodya in the 35th minute.<\/p>\n<p>In the second-half, both teams came with some positivity but it was Tigers who scored through Mbulu\u2019s rebound after Bullets goalkeeper Rabson Chiyenda fumbled Chasimbiwe Kanyika\u2019s shot towards the scorer.<\/p>\n<p>But salvation for Bullets came in the 75th minute through Mkandawire, who headed in after Tigers goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa misjudged Fodya\u2019s corner kick.<\/p>\n<p>The game was then reduced to a balanced affair and, in added time, Tigers Captain Willie Saenda was red-carded for a second bookable offence.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets Coach, Kallisto Pasuwa, said it was a frustrating day.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt was a difficult match but we worked hard to get a point which can help us in our quest to retain the title,\u201d<\/em> Pasuwa said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Tigers Technical Director, Robin Alufandika, said it was sad that his charges gave away two points.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThis is a game we could have won.
