{"id":77047,"date":"2019-04-19T11:32:22","date_gmt":"2019-04-19T09:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=77047"},"modified":"2019-04-19T11:32:22","modified_gmt":"2019-04-19T09:32:22","slug":"4-found-with-human-bones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/04\/19\/4-found-with-human-bones\/","title":{"rendered":"4 found with human bones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Samuel Kalimira: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_75043\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75043\" style=\"width: 215px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/overstone-kondowe.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-75043\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/overstone-kondowe-215x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"215\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/overstone-kondowe-215x300.jpg 215w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/overstone-kondowe.jpg 262w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 215px) 100vw, 215px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-75043\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">KONDOWE\u2014We are talking of about 153 attacks on people with albinism<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Police in Mzimba District Thursday arrested four people for being found with five human bones suspected to be of a person with albinism.<\/p>\n<p>National Police spokesperson, James Kadadzera, said one family in Mzimba suspects that the bones are those of their relative who died in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>Kadadzera said members of the family\u2014who opted for concealment of their identity\u2014 observed that the grave of their relative was tampered with and the body was exhumed.<\/p>\n<p>Kadadzera said police has managed to arrest the four suspects after investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects are Wester Mvula, 51, of Kamkunthe Village, Traditional Authority (T\/A) Mabilabo, 55-year-old John Phiri, from Shongeya Village, T\/A Mabilabo, Richard Lungu, 62, from Somptwane Lungu Village T\/A Mzukuzuku and McLoud Mphande, 61, of Godiyawo Shaba Village, T\/A Mzukuzuku in the Mzimba district.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe have arrested the four suspects and are questioning them. We have hope that they [the suspects] will lead us where they wanted to sell the bones. We are serious on this matter because we know that such cases attract national interest,\u201d<\/em> Kadadzera said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, some reports indicate that the suspects took two bones to Mundiyeye Village in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>Other reports indicate that two other suspects are at large.<\/p>\n<p>Association of Persons with Albinism President, Overstone Kondowe, said their organisation wants justice on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>Kondowe said people with albinism are living in fear due to cases of abduction and killing. In a recent interview, Kondowe said it was discouraging that the government was yet to honour a pledge it made that it would provide alert gadgets to all people with albinism.<\/p>\n<p>At least 25 people with albinism have either disappeared or been killed since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Cases of killing and abduction of people with albinism have been making headlines, with people blaming the government for failing to deal with the issue.<\/p>\n<p>One person\u2014<a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/buleya-lule-was-electrocuted\/\">Lule Buleya<\/a>\u2014who was arrested in connection with the abduction of a person with albinism was found dead in a police cell.
