When he was a parliamentarian and Cabinet minister, he was diligent. He was a man of integrity; one who loved his country,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gerald Banda, a family representative, said they would remember Chupa as a selfless and loving person.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cHe was selfless and loving. He was always there at all family occasions, whether in happiness or sorrow. He was a man we all rushed to and he used to assist everyone in need. We will miss him dearly,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chupa died on April 15.<\/p>\n<p>He served as parliamentarian for Blantyre City Constituency from 1997 to 2004.<\/p>\n<p>He co-founded National Democratic Alliance with Brown Mpinganjira and later joined People\u2019s Party, which he served as director of recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>Among those in attendance were former presidents Bakili Muluzi and Joyce Banda, retired chief justice Richard Banda and politician Ziliro Chibambo.<\/p>\n<p>The Malawi Defence Force directed the funeral ceremony.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Emmanuel Chirwa: The body of Peter Chupa was laid to rest with military honours Thursday.
