{"id":76732,"date":"2019-04-12T10:30:53","date_gmt":"2019-04-12T08:30:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=76732"},"modified":"2019-04-12T10:30:53","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T08:30:53","slug":"silver-strikers-eye-six-points","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/04\/12\/silver-strikers-eye-six-points\/","title":{"rendered":"Silver Strikers eye six points"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Williams Gondwa: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Capital City giants Silver Strikers left for Karonga in the early hours of Thursday in a bid to start their 2019 TNM Super League campaign on a high.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Bankers will play two matches in Karonga, starting with Karonga United Saturday before facing returnees Chitipa United on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>However, Silver Strikers Team Manager Hellings Mwakasungula has described both matches as tricky.<\/p>\n<p>Mwakusungula said much as beating the two sides at their own backyard would not be easy, grabbing six points is a must for his side.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI would not say we are 100 percent ready but as a team, we need to be ready to win the title. It is always important to start the marathon on a high. We are encouraging our players to work hard so that we win all the matches,\u201d<\/em> Mwakasungula said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Silver did not win any silverware in the 2018 season and will be itching for a better season.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Chitipa Team Manager Mwaiseni Chinama said facing Silver would give them a chance to assess their players\u2019 ability to win trophies in the 2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>Chinama said Chitipa have assembled a squad capable of withstanding the heat against the giants and remain in the elite league.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe have registered capable players and we have confidence in them. We are ready to face Silver. This will be a good game to us as we start the season against one of the big teams in the league,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Other teams that start the campaign with away matches are the champions Nyasa Big Bullets, Moyale, Mzuni, Mighty Tigers and Civil Sporting Club.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets are away in Kasungu against TN Stars Saturday while Moyale travel to Lilongwe to face Masters and Blue Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Mzuni travel to Blantyre to play against Be Forward Wanderers and rookies Ntopwa FC whereas Tigers are in the Central Region to face Kamuzu Barracks and Dwangwa United.<\/p>\n<p>Civil will be in Kasungu on Sunday against Mlatho Mponela.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Williams Gondwa: Capital City giants Silver Strikers left for Karonga in the early hours of Thursday in a bid to start their 2019 TNM Super League campaign on a high.
