{"id":76725,"date":"2019-04-12T10:25:39","date_gmt":"2019-04-12T08:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=76725"},"modified":"2019-04-12T10:25:39","modified_gmt":"2019-04-12T08:25:39","slug":"robert-ngambis-black-leopards-face-relegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/04\/12\/robert-ngambis-black-leopards-face-relegation\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Ng\u2019ambi\u2019s Black Leopards face relegation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Williams Gondwa: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/higger-mkandawire.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-70264\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/higger-mkandawire-300x282.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/higger-mkandawire-300x282.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/higger-mkandawire.jpg 388w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Malawi national football team veteran midfielder, Robert \u2018Baggio\u2019 Ng\u2019ambi\u2019s South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) team <a href=\"https:\/\/us.soccerway.com\/teams\/south-africa\/black-leopards-fc\/3522\/\">Black Leopards<\/a> face relegation.<\/p>\n<p>Leopards\u2019 woes worsened after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Orlando Pirates on Wednesday to remain 12th on the table with 25 points from the same number of games.<\/p>\n<p>The fight to escape relegation in the PSL also involves Chippa United, Baroka FC and Free State Stars.<\/p>\n<p>Chippa are on position 13 with 24 points from the same number of games, while Baroka lie 14th with 24 points.<\/p>\n<p>Free State Stars also have 24 points but are on position 15 whereas Maritzburg United anchor the table with 20 points from 25 games.<\/p>\n<p>With only five games remaining to wind up the season, Ng\u2019ambi, who joined Leopards in January, believes his side needs to improve as four other teams are also fighting for survival.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cOf-course we are not on a bad position but we need to be careful because anything can happen. We need to win at least two or three games, which will not be easy. But we will fight hard to escape the chop,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Ng\u2019ambi signed for Leopards on a six-month deal after failing to complete his move to Cyprus due to an injury.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Ng\u2019ambi\u2019s compatriot Gabadinho Mhango has none of such concerns as his Bidvest Wits are six points behind league leaders Pirates. Wits are third on the table with 41 points.<\/p>\n<p>Another Malawian, Limbikani Mzava, is also safe as his Golden Arrows are on position 9 with 31 points.<\/p>\n<p>Soccer analyst Higger Mkandawire said the Flames players need to work harder next season to help their clubs win silverware.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cNg\u2019ambi has helped Platinum Stars to win trophies before and the same applies to Gaba. But all that is now history and they should strive towards winning more.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe fact that our players are struggling to break into their teams\u2019 starting line ups means that there is a lot of talent in South Africa.
