{"id":76538,"date":"2019-04-08T09:35:14","date_gmt":"2019-04-08T07:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=76538"},"modified":"2019-04-08T09:35:14","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T07:35:14","slug":"unicaf-donates-to-deayang-luke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/04\/08\/unicaf-donates-to-deayang-luke\/","title":{"rendered":"Unicaf donates to Deayang Luke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Taonga Sabola: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Unicaf University Malawi has donated items worth K515,000 to Deayang Luke Hospital in Lilongwe as part of commemorating World Health Day.<\/p>\n<p>World Health Day is set aside by the United Nations and World Health Organisation to raise awareness and understanding about health issues and to mobilise support for action from local community to international stage.<\/p>\n<p>The items donated included blankets, nappies, soap and wrappers and were given to 50 patients in the paediatric and maternity wards.<\/p>\n<p>Unicaf University Pro Vice Chancellor, Buxton Mpando, said the university saw it necessary to assist those in hospital as part of its corporate social responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>Mpando said Unicaf aims at giving back to the community in different ways and expressed hope that the donation would help the recipients.<\/p>\n<p>Deayang Luke Hospital Vice Matron, Angeline Edwin, described the donation as timely, saying many patients who come to the hospital lack basic things.<\/p>\n<p>Unicaf University has branches in Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, Egypt, Malawi, Rwanda, Kenya, Somalia and Morocco.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Taonga Sabola: Unicaf University Malawi has donated items worth K515,000 to Deayang Luke Hospital in Lilongwe as part of commemorating World Health Day.
