Silver Strikers coach Stain Chirwa has thrown in the towel and says he is ready to quit his position following the team\u2019s poor performance.<\/p>\n
Chirwa, commenting on his team\u2019s 0-3 loss to Big Bullets in Carlsberg Cup semi-final on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium, said he would step down if his bosses felt so.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they fire me today, I will not complain because our job requires us to produce results. I have been with Silver for more than 20 years and I will always support the club because I love Silver with all my heart,\u201d Chirwa said.<\/p>\n
The coach said he would pack his bags and move to his home, Nkhata Bay, in the event that he is asked to step down.<\/p>\n
\u201cI bought a boat and a fishing net,\u201d Chirwa said. \u201cI am ready to quit and go home and do some fishing.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am sure Nkhata Bay United or Nkhata Bay Select would need my services there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nobody had anticipated that the semi-final between Standard Bank defending champions and Super League champion Bullets, who are also Carlsberg Cup holders, would be such a one-sided affair.<\/p>\n
Even after conceding a goal in first half, there was still some hope that the Bankers would resurrect.<\/p>\n
But Silver were a shadow of themselves as they conceded two more goals in second half.<\/p>\n
After the game, striker Green Harawa, said the team\u2019s performance was terrible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t play the way I know Silver,\u201d Harawa said. \u201cWe were completely out of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n
A Silver fan, Henry Madzi, called upon the executive committee to fire the entire technical panel.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese coaches should not even dare attend training session on Tuesday,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
