{"id":75568,"date":"2019-03-14T08:38:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-14T06:38:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=75568"},"modified":"2019-03-14T08:38:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-14T06:38:58","slug":"nyasa-music-festival-kick-starts-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/03\/14\/nyasa-music-festival-kick-starts-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Nyasa Music Festival kick-starts operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_75573\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-75573\" style=\"width: 284px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/zanda-zakuza.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-75573\" src=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/zanda-zakuza-284x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"284\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/zanda-zakuza-284x300.jpg 284w, https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/zanda-zakuza.jpg 345w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 284px) 100vw, 284px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-75573\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">WARM-UP\u2014Zanda Zakuza will headline the activations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Organisers of the inaugural <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/nyasa-music-festival-announces-more-acts\/\">Nyasa Music Festival<\/a> are set to start activities ahead of the main event to be held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day festival will take place from April 19 to 21 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Nyasa Music Group Director, James Makunje, said yesterday they were ready for the festival and that they begin the showdown with activations coming up later this month which will be graced by South Africa\u2019s artist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channel24.co.za\/News\/Local\/zandas-rise-and-fall-to-stardom-20180928\">Zanda Zakuza.<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are doing a tour from Blantyre to Mzuzu to create awareness about the Nyasa Music Festival and, so, we have Zanda Zakuza from South Africa who will be with us,\u201d<\/em> Makunje said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He said, before the tour, they will also undertake charity work.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe would like to call upon people to join us as we start the road to the main event and we thought we should bring with us Zanda Zakuza, who has brought hits such as \u2018Skeleton Move\u2019, \u2018Club Controller\u2019 and Hair to Toes\u2019,\u201d<\/em> Makunje said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The activations start on March 29 2019 at Chez Ntemba in Blantyre before invading Chez Ntemba Lilongwe the following day and then Mzuzu Queens on March 31 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Makunje said everything was taking the right direction and that they are excited to give people the Nyasa Music Festival.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;We are excited about this event and the smaller events leading up to it and eager to give the people a good time,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The festival has attracted a lot of attention following the organiser\u2019s announcement of a rich line-up featuring among others, South Africa\u2019s award winning act AKA.<\/p>\n<p>The venue for the festival has attracted mixed reactions from some quarters who feel it is not perfect for such a music feast.<\/p>\n<p>But Makunje insisted <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/kamuzu-stadium-to-host-nyasa-music-festival\/\">Kamuzu Stadium<\/a> was convenient and secure.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe looked around and we settled for Kamuzu Stadium because we feel it is secure and can accommodate everyone,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The entry fee for the three-day package is K32,000 for advance and K40,000 on the door while for VIP it is K45,000 advance and K55,000 for VIP on the door.<\/p>\n<p>The day\u2019s ticket is K15,000 advance and K20,000 on the door.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe have made sure that the entry fee is affordable to everyone. People will also save, especially those based in Blantyre because they don\u2019t have to spend on transport and accommodation as they do with festivals that happen along the lake,\u201d<\/em> Makunje said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apart from AKA, some of the international acts set to perform at the festival are Prince Kaybee, DJ Noxx, DJ Kaygee, Nasty C and Busiswa. The international line-up has been dominated by artists from South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>To be hosted by Blak Jak and Super DT, the festival will bring on board local acts such as Fredokiss, DJ Nathan Tunes, Gwamba, Faith Mussa, Kell Kay, Malinga Mafia, Bossaro Music Group, Patience Namadingo, DJ Reubie, Macelba and DJ Flame.<\/p>\n<p>Having held the Nyasa Music Awards the past two years, Makunje said the awards will come later in the year and that for now people should gear for the festival.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Organisers of the inaugural Nyasa Music Festival are set to start activities ahead of the main event to be held at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
