We believe that this is also the right way to identify players for the national team. There are some good players in the villages but they are not given a chance; so, they will be exposed through the tournament,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chalira said, after the event, the team would regroup in preparation for a match against Mozambique in April 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Fam recently hosted Rough Diamonds Challenge for men\u2019s football involving three regional select teams and First Capital Bank Under 20 select.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Region Select were crowned champions after finishing top.<\/p>\n<p>Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said it was pre-mature for him to comment on the matter before the Executive Committee\u2019s nod.<\/p>\n<p>Former Silver Strikers coach, Stanley Chirwa, said the Rough Diamonds, which Fam organised recently, was a good idea.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe watched good players and I am sure some clubs would poach players from the select teams. It will also be a great idea to organise a tournament for women\u2019s football,\u201d<\/em> Chirwa said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Malawi women\u2019s team face Mozambique in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games qualifiers between April 1 and 9.<\/p>\n<p>Fam is expected to unveil the coach after the expiry of Maggie Chombo-Sadik and her backroom staff\u2019s contracts.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/she-flames-register-first-win-in-south-africa\/\">She-Flames<\/a> performed poorly at the Cosafa Championship held in South Africa last year, having lost 6-0 to South Africa and 2-0 to Botswana.
