In an effort aimed at bringing a variety of entertainment activities to their clients, Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe will on August 28 hold what it dubs The Golden Oldies Dinner and Dance.<\/p>\n
Sunbird Tourism Limited public relations officer Akossa Mphepo said this will be the event of the season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are hoping this will be the event of the season, our first themed event into the summer which we have just gotten into,\u201d said Mphepo.<\/p>\n
She said that they are planning a great night of fun and good old school music during the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe optional dress code will also make things very interesting and exciting, especially for those that will dress up in their clothes from the past era, be it 60s, 70s, 80s or the more recent 90s,\u201d said Mphepo.<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cIf our clients can still fit into their flared pants, platform shoes and polyster pants or their John Travolta suits from the Saturday Night Live era, we hope they will give them a good cleaning and wear them to the event, for old time\u2019s sake.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mphepo said they have had feedback from clients asking for an event with music that takes them down memory lane and that this fits the bill perfectly.<\/p>\n
She said underlying all this, , is an appreciation of the previous eras and how they have helped shape \u201cus into who we are today.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAs our clients reminisce about these old days through song, they will also reflect on how far they have come.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd, for those that might not have been present in all of these eras, then this night will present an opportunity for them to experience how things were done back then,\u201d said the public relations officer.<\/p>\n
She said what makes this event more significant is the fact that Sunbird Capital Hotel itself was opened in 1976 (under Capital Hotels Limited) and that it has grown appreciably since then to become one of the group\u2019s premier hotels.<\/p>\n
Mphepo said the master of ceremonies for the event will be Kelvin M\u2019mangisa, who she said is excited to be part of the event and that they are working hand in hand to have a successful show.<\/p>\n
She said although the event will take place in Lilongwe, those from other regions were welcome.<\/p>\n
Mphepo said Sunbird Capital has put up low weekend rates of K45,000 single and K55,000 double for accommodation.<\/p>\n
She said that there is a lot of activities happening in their different hotels.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Sunbird Mzuzu has also special accommodation rates at K48,000 single or double for the weekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
