{"id":7480,"date":"2015-08-14T07:41:29","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T07:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=7480"},"modified":"2015-08-14T07:41:29","modified_gmt":"2015-08-14T07:41:29","slug":"miss-blantyre-auditions-friday-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/14\/miss-blantyre-auditions-friday-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Miss Blantyre auditions Friday night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The long awaited Miss Blantyre 2015 will be launched this weekend starting with an event at Nthukwa in Chilomoni before a bash at Basement Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>One of the organisers Daniel Ngwira said all is set for the launch adding that all models are invited to the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiss Blantyre and all princesses will be present during the event,\u201d he said adding that this year\u2019s theme is <em>Beyond Beauty<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going to launch this year\u2019s Miss Blantyre Beauty Pageant on the afternoon of Friday (today), there will be a public show at Nthukwa market in Chilomoni where Blantyre models and artists will speak to fellow youth and the public,\u201d said Ngwira.<\/p>\n<p>He said the launch will hit its climax where artists like Blakjak, Metics , Diktator, Nyasa Guruz and Saint will perform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be a red carpet and a photo booth set for all patrons on the night and various prizes to the best dressed ladies on the night and all Blantyre models will spice up the show with various sets of acts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Ngwira said that reigning queen of the city Nerani Nthara, who is a 3rd year Quantity Surveying student at the Malawi Polytechnic will also perform.<\/p>\n<p>The organising chairperson hinted that this year\u2019s contest will be unique in the sense that the organisers are working on various solid partnerships that should complement the seriousness of the Miss Blantyre Office and support the City Council\u2019s initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlantyre City Council announced that this year\u2019s winner will also be crowned ambassador for the Keep Blantyre City Campaign. This will see the queen lobby for sanitation and health measures that can make Blantyre the best place to be in Malawi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the organisers have appealed to the government and private sector willing to participate to come forward and make Miss Blantyre Office successful.<\/p>\n<p>The last Miss Blantyre was conducted in December 2013 whose main sponsor was United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA).<\/p>\n<p>Polytechnic student Nerani Nthara emerged winner with Yalenga Vinkhumbo from Chancellor College and Samantha Williams being crowned first and second princesses respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Nthara was crowned Miss Blantyre on 6th December 2013 and her term of office expires this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The long awaited Miss Blantyre 2015 will be launched this weekend starting with an event at Nthukwa in Chilomoni before a bash at Basement Friday night.
