{"id":74400,"date":"2019-02-14T03:38:09","date_gmt":"2019-02-14T01:38:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=74400"},"modified":"2019-02-14T03:38:09","modified_gmt":"2019-02-14T01:38:09","slug":"no-show-for-dikamawoko","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/02\/14\/no-show-for-dikamawoko\/","title":{"rendered":"No show for Dikamawoko"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dikamawoko Arts will not travel to Egypt for the third edition of the Awladna International Forum for Arts of the Gifted after failing to raise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/dikamawoko-targets-to-raise-k6-million\/\">K6 million<\/a> for transport.<\/p>\n<p>The festival, which gives a chance to people with special needs to showcase their talents, starts tomorrow and ends on February 22 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Dikamawoko Arts Director, Tawonga Nkhonjera, said Wednesday they were hoping to raise the K6 million but have not been successful.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe were hoping that we would get support but things have not materialised. We have spoken with the festival and they will reserve our invitation for next year,\u201d <\/em>Nkhonjera said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He also said that the two parties recognised that they were informed too late.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe tried to push for it and our push was not in vain. We have created some form of awareness from which many partnerships and projects will ensue. And the festival has given us a full year to prepare for the next edition,\u201d<\/em> Nkhonjera said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He said their fundraising campaign is not over.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement by Dikamawoko Arts that they will not travel to Egypt comes barely a week after they received K100,000 from Light of Youth Creative Organisation for the processing of passports for two members.<\/p>\n<p>The group has members with special needs and, according to Nkhonjera, the festival in Egypt is fit for them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Dikamawoko Arts will not travel to Egypt for the third edition of the Awladna International Forum for Arts of the Gifted after failing to raise K6 million for transport.
