TNM Super League Player of the Year 2018, Yamikani Chester, has shared his experience of training\u2014for the first time on Monday\u2014with North Caroline FC in the second tier United Soccer League Championship (USL).<\/p>\n

The Flames attacker, who is on loan at Carolina from Czech Republic\u2019s MFK Vyskov<\/a>, described his first session with the United States (US) team as \u201cexciting and intense\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great to meet all the personnel on the pitch, run through drills and start to learn what is expected of us. I thoroughly enjoyed the session, it was really intense, and look forward to my time with the club,\u201d<\/em> Carolina media team quotes Chester as saying.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The player said he was impressed with the club\u2019s personnel, training facilities and professionalism. Former America coach Dave Sarachan mentors Carolina.<\/p>\n

Chester signed from Be Forward Wanderers on a three-year contract, following his exploits for club and country.<\/p>\n

The former Tigers captain said he knows that he needs to work hard to be in contention for the club\u2019s forthcoming friendlies. Carolina open the season against Louisville FC on March 9.<\/p>\n

United Kingdom-based Malawian James Woods- Nkhutabasa, who once trained with the Flames while on a training tour of Denmark, was involved in the transfer of the player alongside Cameroonian intermediary Kingsley Pungong and Malawi-based Maxwell Kalamula.<\/p>\n

Woods-Nkhutabasa said he was delighted with Chester\u2019s desire to work hard in order to integrate into Carolina and deliver.<\/p>\n

Pungong told the press earlier that he hopes Chester\u2019s move to USL, whose matches are broadcast on ESPN+, ESPN3, could open a window of opportunity for more Malawians to play abroad.<\/p>\n

USL Championship is the second highest professional football league in the United States, below Major League Soccer. USL involves 30 teams from the US and Canada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
