{"id":7406,"date":"2015-08-12T08:17:38","date_gmt":"2015-08-12T08:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=7406"},"modified":"2015-08-12T08:17:38","modified_gmt":"2015-08-12T08:17:38","slug":"malawi-government-lauds-innovative-times-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/12\/malawi-government-lauds-innovative-times-group\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi government lauds innovative Times Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi government has commended <em>The Times Group <\/em>for being innovative and supporting the growth of media industry in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture Kondwani Nankhumwa made the approval when he toured <em>Times Television<\/em>, <em>Matindi FM <\/em>studios and <em>BNL Times <\/em>newsroom in Blantyre on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Nankhumwa said the history of this country\u2019s media industry cannot be complete without the mention of <em>The Times Group. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The Times Group <\/em>is the oldest media house in the country and the company has grown from being a newspaper publishing media house only to something big. This is one of my familiarisation visits to different media organisations in the country and today I decided to take my time off to visit <em>Times Group <\/em>to appreciate what they are doing. To appreciate the investment they are putting into the media sector. They are coming up with several investments and innovations to take broadcasting industry in the country to another level,\u201d Nankhumwa said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he was aware that <em>The Times Group <\/em>has some challenges which will require government\u2019s support.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a long discussion with the management-close to two hours-where we looked at the challenges and successes. The government has undertaken that whatever they are doing should be supported and of course, we will come in to assist,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the media sector alone, <em>The Times Group <\/em>owns <em>Times Television, Matindi FM, Timescom <\/em>and <em>BNL Times <\/em>which publishes <em>The Daily Times<\/em>, <em>Malawi News <\/em>and <em>The Sunday Times <\/em>newspapers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi government has commended The Times Group for being innovative and supporting the growth of media industry in the country.
