It had no head, no intestines and no private parts,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sauka said, during interrogation, the suspect revealed that he got the baby from Phalula in Balaka.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cCurrently, Balaka Police are investigating the issue. The suspect is likely to be charged with possession of human tissue, which is a felony,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sauka disputed reports that the child was born with albinism.<\/p>\n<p>Central and East African Railways Communications Manager, Chisomo Mwamadi, confirmed that Majawa was arrested after other passengers complained over the stench.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe arrested and handed him over to the police,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Majawa\u2019s arrest comes amid a surge in murders and abductions of persons with albinism in the country.<\/p>\n<p>They are targeted for their body parts, which unconfirmed reports indicate are sold to be used in potions made by witchdoctors who claim they bring wealth and good luck.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, activists took to the streets and presented a petition to Parliament, calling for imposition of strict penalties for people who attack or kill people with albinism.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Pilirani Kachinziri: Balaka police on Wednesday arrested James Majawa for allegedly being found in possession of a mutilated body of a newly born baby.
