With just weeks left before the 2015 Super League resumption, Zomba giants Red Lions are busy on the transfer market with the aim of strengthening their depleted side.<\/p>\n
The Lions suffered a major blow in the first round when their eight key players were suspended for the rest of the season for indiscipline during a recent match against Fisd Wizards.<\/p>\n
Lions\u2019 coach, Collins Nkuna, has been travelling across the country during the mid-season break in search of new players.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are targeting five players. Our major concern is in the attacking department because most of the players that were suspended are forwards. We want to get other quality forwards so that we could have a good outing in the second round,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Lions have already signed Zomba United midfield Stanley Dube and Nkuna said the coaching panel was not resting until it completes beefing up the squad.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went to Dwangwa where I scouted players in the Estate League. I am hoping to sign one of the players by the end of this week. I have also found another good player in Salima. We are completing transfer negotiations with his club. By the end of this week, we will have a number of new faces,\u201d Nkuna said.<\/p>\n
Despite having the majority of their players suspended, Red Lions performed beyond expectations in the first round where they finished on position seven with 21 points from 14 matches.<\/p>\n
They are currently 11 points behind league leaders Big Bullets. The Lions, who finished on position six last season, had before their players\u2019 suspension been topping the table for some time before the suspension of the players.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
