It was a nice experience and I am looking forward to more sessions, as there is a lot we can share to help improve our game,” he said from his base in South Africa.

Waya said the Flames are able to control possession and play from the back, but need to be more direct in the attacking third.

“My observation was that the team is now very good in ball possession. We do very well from the back to midfield.

“What is needed now is the transition to have the same good possession in the attacking third and have few passes to speed up play in attacking the goal.

“In most instances, they reach the attacking third then start passing the ball back and reach at the back, which makes [the team] to start from square one,” he said.

He said it was important for the team to balance playing well with attacking he opponent’s goal.

“This can be measured by how many shots were taken at goal, crosses, through-balls and corner kicks. The way forward for our team is to make sure that we score in each and every game—win or lose— as this would show that we are attacking.”

Waya, who is a qualified football administrator and coach, is the Flames second all-time leading scorer behind Kinnah Phiri.
