{"id":72938,"date":"2019-01-08T08:58:27","date_gmt":"2019-01-08T06:58:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=72938"},"modified":"2019-01-08T08:58:27","modified_gmt":"2019-01-08T06:58:27","slug":"christafari-and-avion-blackman-in-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2019\/01\/08\/christafari-and-avion-blackman-in-town\/","title":{"rendered":"Christafari and Avion Blackman in town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christafari and Avion Blackman jetted into the country Monday morning through Kamuzu International Airport ahead of their performance \u2013 dubbed No Left Behind \u2013 at Sunbird Capital Marquee in Lilongwe on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Christafari and Avion Blackman are set to share the stage with local acts such as Faith Mussa, Sangwani Munthali, Suffix and Sam Mjura.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are excited that all members of the group are finally here. We are urging Malawians to embrace this opportunity by patronising the show with their family members and friends. This is the first time for them to perform, so this is a-must-not-miss concert,\u201d<\/em> spokesperson of the organising team, Thokozani Chimbali, said Monday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Christafari and Avion Blackman will be performing in the country courtesy of International Christian Assembly in conjunction with All Nations Music Inc.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWhen we saw that they were visiting Kenya and Tanzania, we contacted them to know if they could also visit Malawi. It should be noted that that the organising committee\u2019s team leader, Sai Chalamanda, has been in contact with the group for almost a year,\u201d<\/em> Chimbali said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Chimbali also said that the group is happy to perform in the country for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Christafari and Avion Blackman has since said the country should expect the best live performance and that they were looking forward to the ministration at Maula Prison.<\/p>\n<p>Christafari is a Christian reggae band formed in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>The group centred on the personality of ordained religious minister Mark Mohr, an American, born-again Christian who, until the age of 17, was a rastafarian.<\/p>\n<p>Each of Christafari\u2019s albums \u2013 notably <em>Reggae Christmas, Greatest Hits Volume 1, Greatest Hits Volume 2 <\/em>and <em>Anthems <\/em>\u2013 have hit the number one position on the Billboard Reggae Charts.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s 2017 album <em>Hearts of Fire <\/em>entered the Billboard Reggae Albums chart number one, their third number one album on the chart.<\/p>\n<p>On April 13 2018, Christafari released the studio album <em>Original Love <\/em>(Lion of Zion Entertainment) which debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart.<\/p>\n<p>This is the group\u2019s seventh consecutive album to debut at number one.<\/p>\n<p>The entry fee for the show is K12,5000 on the door and K10,000 advance tickets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Sam Banda Jnr: Christafari and Avion Blackman jetted into the country Monday morning through Kamuzu International Airport ahead of their performance \u2013 dubbed No Left Behind \u2013 at Sunbird Capital Marquee in Lilongwe on Thursday.
