{"id":7288,"date":"2015-08-11T07:44:46","date_gmt":"2015-08-11T07:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=7288"},"modified":"2015-08-11T07:44:46","modified_gmt":"2015-08-11T07:44:46","slug":"kwathu-imparts-acting-skills-to-friends-in-phalombe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/08\/11\/kwathu-imparts-acting-skills-to-friends-in-phalombe\/","title":{"rendered":"Kwathu imparts acting skills to friends in Phalombe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kwathu Drama Group on Saturday staged their newly released play <em>Aneneri <\/em>at Highest Rivonia in Phalombe.<\/p>\n<p>The performance was part of imparting acting skills to Friends of Kwathu.<\/p>\n<p>The group\u2019s veteran actor Charles Mphoka said they staged the play in Phalombe after being approached by Likulezi Aids Project which calls itself Friends of Kwathu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were requested by the group to teach them acting skills because they mostly spread different me s s age s about Aids through drama,\u201d sai d Mphoka.<\/p>\n<p>Mphoka, who wrote <em>Aneneri <\/em>alongside musician Billy Kaunda, said apart from imparting acting skills to their friends, they were also happy to perform in Phalombe.<\/p>\n<p>Project Coordinator for Likulezi Aids Project, Henry Julius, said through Kwathu\u2019s performance they had learnt how to stage professional productions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKwathu is a professional group and one of the popular drama groups in the country and so we felt it wise to utilise them to train us, show us how they do it,\u201d said Julius.<\/p>\n<p>He said they want to reach out to people with different messages and that drama has always been one of the key channels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter watching them perform, now we know how to go about and we should be able to deliver the message in an effective manner just like they do,\u201d said Julius.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the play being staged in Phalombe people from surrounding and distant areas came on their bicycles to witness the production.<\/p>\n<p><em>Aneneri <\/em>is Kwathu\u2019s first production this year and it delves into the issue of \u2018false prophets,\u2019 who are all over confusing the masses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kwathu Drama Group on Saturday staged their newly released play Aneneri at Highest Rivonia in Phalombe.
