{"id":72541,"date":"2018-12-27T08:44:56","date_gmt":"2018-12-27T06:44:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=72541"},"modified":"2018-12-27T08:44:56","modified_gmt":"2018-12-27T06:44:56","slug":"mwawi-kumwenda-on-recovery-path","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/12\/27\/mwawi-kumwenda-on-recovery-path\/","title":{"rendered":"Mwawi Kumwenda on recovery path"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia-based shooter, Mwawi Kumwenda, is back home to continue with her rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>The Melbourne Vixens shooter is a major doubt for the Queens\u2019 trip to Liverpool, the United Kingdom, for the World Cup next year following a leg injury she suffered earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The former Kukoma Diamonds attacker has since urged Netball Association of Malawi to ensure that the Queens start preparations earlier.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIt is very unlikely that I will recover in time for the World Cup. I am still doing my rehabilitation here [in Malawi] as per doctors\u2019 advice.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHowever, if possible, the team should start early training so as to build team-work and perform better at the games,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Queens were dealt a blow after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/mwawi-kumwenda-top-scores-again\/\">towering shooter<\/a> missed the Africa Netball Championship in Lusaka, Zambia and the Fast5 Netball World Series in Melbourne, Australia, earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Kumwenda suffered the injury after landing awkwardly during a Suncorp Super Netball League match between her Vixens and West Coast Fever on July 28.<\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old netballer was advised by doctors to avoid netball action for 12 months, which consequently makes her doubtful for the World Cup set to run from July 12 and 21.<\/p>\n<p>According to the doctors\u2019 recommendations, Mwawi is expected to be fully fit in August 2019, a month after the World Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Mphatso Malidadi: Australia-based shooter, Mwawi Kumwenda, is back home to continue with her rehabilitation.
