{"id":72433,"date":"2018-12-24T12:51:57","date_gmt":"2018-12-24T10:51:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=72433"},"modified":"2018-12-24T12:51:57","modified_gmt":"2018-12-24T10:51:57","slug":"t-bills-open-to-all-malawians-rbm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/12\/24\/t-bills-open-to-all-malawians-rbm\/","title":{"rendered":"T-bills open to all Malawians\u2014RBM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Imam Wali <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Contributor: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has urged Malawians to inculcate a savings culture by, among other things, participating in the trading of treasury bills.<\/p>\n<p>RBM Chief Examiner (Consume r-Protection and Financial Literacy), Madalitso Chamba, said the central bank is advocating financial inclusion, hence calling on Malawians to develop interest in capital and money markets.<\/p>\n<p>Chamba was speaking last week in Dedza on the sidelines of National Financial Literacy Programme Community Outreach Programme that attracted traditional leaders, councillors, and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cTreasury Bills are available to any Malawian,\u201d<\/em> Chamba said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>She said only a few Malawians understand the concept, culminating in the majority not making the most of it.<\/p>\n<p>Chamba then assured Malawians that government is committed to protecting and paying back money once it borrows.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Imam Wali Contributor: The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has urged Malawians to inculcate a savings culture by, among other things, participating in the trading of treasury bills.
