{"id":72332,"date":"2018-12-11T02:48:50","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T00:48:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=72332"},"modified":"2018-12-11T02:48:50","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T00:48:50","slug":"carlsberg-beerfest-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/12\/11\/carlsberg-beerfest-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Carlsberg Beerfest a success\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Sam Banda Jnr:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 2018 Carlsberg Beerfest held at Lilongwe Golf Club has been a success after beating last year\u2019s numbers, Castel Malawi Senior Brands Manager (Alcoholic beverages) Widdey Nsona, said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day beerfest started on Friday attracting a huge audience with performances coming from, among others, reggae group Black Missionaries, Fredokiss, Piksy and Sangie.<\/p>\n<p>The second day also attracted a massive audience that partied until the early hours of Sunday, with Nepman closing the chapter.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday acts such as Skeffa Chimoto and his Real Sounds Band, veteran Giddes Chalamanda and Edgar ndi Davis Band, Zionists and Lucius Banda and Zembani Band entertained the audience.<\/p>\n<p>The last day was more for family entertainment than anthing else as there was a section for children where they enjoyed different activities.<\/p>\n<p>On the last day people also had time to enjoy traditional dances which included Malipenga and Gule Wamkulu.<\/p>\n<p>There were also performances from among others, Golden Moon Band.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThe beerfest has been good, we have had a good turnout and on Friday we had over 2,000 consumers while on Saturday we had over 3,000 consumers,\u201d Nsona said.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He said they achieved what they wanted and thanked consumers for celebrating with them 50 years of having Carlsberg beer in Malawi.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cArtists offered lively acts and it has been very exciting. As I indicated, we have achieved what we wanted,\u201d Nsona said.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He said as Castel Malawi, they will continue to grow and give consumers their products.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cAs Castel Malawi, we will continue to support different events and we would like to wish our consumers a happy festive season,\u201d Nsona said<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>During the beerfest, despite having different performances, the headliner was beer as consumers took time out to enjoy it to the fullest.<\/p>\n<p>Castel Malawi Commercial Marketing Director, Chantal Akoumany, said ahead of the beerfest that 2018 is a special year for Castel Malawi and that the event was a way of expressing gratitude to customers for their loyalty, by offering fun and memorable moments.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers made sure there was enough security during the three-day event which debuted last year.<\/p>\n<p>Random interviews with some of the patrons indicated they were satisfied.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI have enjoyed the beerfest and enjoyed the performances. On Saturday, I loved Giddes Chalamanda for the fact that he is in his 80s but put up a great show.
