The people require some assistance for them to normalise their lives,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>T\/A Makanjira has since appealed to the authorities to rescue the affected people.<\/p>\n<p>Makanjira said about 370 people from the affected households have been rendered homeless and are in need of food and shelter.<\/p>\n<p>He said it is difficult accommodating the affected people at a nearby primary school because classes are in progress.<\/p>\n<p>The displacement of the people has raised fears of waterborne diseases such as cholera.<\/p>\n<p>Mangochi District Disaster Management Affairs Officer, Carol Mirinyu, said her office was expected to visit Makanjira later Tuesday to further ascertain the immediate needs of the affected people.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, rains also damaged two classroom blocks at Mbonechera Primary School in Mangochi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Yohane Symon: Five people were injured following the collapsing of their houses due to heavy rains and strong winds in Traditional Authority (T\/A) Makanjira, Mangochi District, on Monday night.
