{"id":72183,"date":"2018-11-28T09:16:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T07:16:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=72183"},"modified":"2018-11-28T09:16:03","modified_gmt":"2018-11-28T07:16:03","slug":"taulo-wins-zambia-open-squash-plate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2018\/11\/28\/taulo-wins-zambia-open-squash-plate\/","title":{"rendered":"Taulo wins Zambia Open Squash Plate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>By Mphatso Malidadi: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chisomo Taulo made history over the weekend when he won the 2018 Zambia Open Plate final held in Kitwe.<\/p>\n<p>He is the first Malawian to win squash silverware in Zambia.<\/p>\n<p>Having lost in the first round, Taulo overcame Joseph Kabwe, who is from the Zambian Army Squash Club, by three sets to one.<\/p>\n<p>Sounding surprised, Joe Kawimbe from the Zambian army team said it was unbelievable that a Malawian could win a Zambian tournament, let alone the prestigious Zambia Open.<\/p>\n<p>Zambian army team invests a lot in squash and the country\u2019s national team participates in international tournaments such as the Commonwealth Games regularly.<\/p>\n<p>Zambian Kelvin Ndlovu, who is South Africa-based and ranked number two, won the main event after defeating compatriot Manda Chilambwe, who is based in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Players from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia, Malawi and Zambia participated in the tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Mphatso Malidadi: Chisomo Taulo made history over the weekend when he won the 2018 Zambia Open Plate final held in Kitwe.
